I remember watching an episode of “Happy Days” on TV in the 70s when the character Fonzie couldn’t say the words “I was wrong.” It looked like he was choking on his tongue, and watching him struggle made my jaw ache.
You’ve just gotta do it. There are repercussions if you can’t agree that you’ve done wrong. You won’t have resolution or clarity or freedom if you’re choked by your past. And this proverb says you won’t prosper or find mercy, either.
“He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.” Proverbs 28:13 NIV
Soften your heart and trust God. Walk with him in his wisdom. Read his words and seek him every day so you can know him better, then you’ll avoid trouble.
“Blessed is the man who always fears the Lord, but he who hardens his heart falls into trouble.” 28:14
“He who trusts in himself is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom is kept safe.” 28:26

Proverbs 28:26
“He who trusts in himself is a fool,
But he who walks in wisdom is kept safe”.
How true this is! What wisdom would there be in following a blind man into unknown territory? None, whatsoever! Only one who can see would be a safe guide.
And as far as anything in our futures – even the immediate future – we are all blind men! So if I trust myself, and don’t look for wisdom from the only One who knows the beginning and end of all things, then I am indeed a fool!
Even my day-to-day decisions need to be based on Divine wisdom. I want to keep my hand in the hand of my Savior, to follow His lead. May I always keep my trust in Him!
