More Nuggets of Wisdom – Proverbs 19

Here are the proverbs that caught my eye January 19.

“A man’s own folly ruins his life, yet his heart rages against the Lord.” Proverbs 19:3 NIV  This sounds much like an obstinate child throwing a tantrum. She’s kicking and screaming because of her choices and their outcome, and blaming God for her unhappiness with her choices. Thank you for your patience, Lord, and your faithfulness to teach us your ways.

“He who gets wisdom loves his own soul; he who cherishes understanding prospers.” 19:8  Getting wisdom shows you love your soul, and prosperity comes with taking care to live in understanding.

“Listen to advice and accept instruction, and in the end you will be wise.” 19:20 That sure looks like a promise to me: Listen and accept, then I’ll be wise in the end.

I want to add another one for today: “The fear of the Lord leads to life: Then one rests content, untouched by trouble.” 19:23
